Weird glittering sorry note and money left by pot thief Penzance

A woman let her head scratch at the audacity of a thief who stole her flowerpot because “they needed it” before leaving a sorry note with money.

Holly Grace received a card from the strange criminal, apologizing for the inconvenience but explaining that they “needed a flowerpot”, so they decided to use hers on Sunday evening (September 26) .

The window planter, which was actually a family heirloom donated by her aunt, 80, was taken from a residential street in Penzance, near the promenade, and there has been no sign of it since.

Holly said she was in disbelief at the situation and it took a few reads of the bizarre note to figure out what was going on.

She said it was without a doubt one of the strangest things to ever happen to her.

“The card was pushed through the door and you read the words and you just can’t figure out what it means,” she said. “Then I suddenly realized they were talking about the planter.

“The planter is right on the sidewalk, across the street, there is no front garden and my living room is right where the planter normally lives. I was sitting in front of the TV on Sunday night and when I left the house. room around 9:15 pm, everything was normal. “

The next morning, she saw a sparkling Disney card, without an envelope, at the front door and thought maybe it was something for her daughter.

But in a twist, the anonymous note, which wished the family to ‘always stay happy and healthy’, explained that someone had used the jar and left £ 15 in cash for it. The person who wrote the note also left “hugs and kisses”.

“I had no idea what he was talking about,” Holly said. “Reading it over and over again, I was probably thinking not? I was trying to probe the angle of the person. Does it take the mickey or do they really think it’s okay? Where? How? What?”

She continued, “It’s like a whole new level to take something. It’s just such a strange combination of things. Someone steals your planter, it’s awful and it happens.

“But someone bothered to put a card through the door to say they took it and in a weird way, apologize, which is another layer. Then they left money for it “

She said her brain “can’t quite make sense of the act.”

“My 80 year old aunt gave it to me and had it in her garden for decades and decades. She taught me how to garden and we potted it together. It was special and it didn’t. makes things worse.

“This jar means a lot to me. I didn’t just go to the stores to buy it.”

Message inside apologized for the inconvenience

Holly has since left a note in place of the flower planter urging the person in charge to return it and has been overwhelmed with support from neighbors after sharing her ordeal online.

“Everyone was so lovely and a woman I had never met before knocked on the door and gave us a beautiful copper pot full of thoughts.”

Speaking of the thief wishing her family happiness, she said, “I was happy and my little girl was happy. We were all perfectly happy. But now we are not. “
