The ‘Corn Kid’ just became a cornfluencer

Vegetables, whole grains, fruits and now a viral star with its own official ambassador. Of course, we are talking about corn!

You might have seen the viral TikTok video or heard of Tariq, the adorable kid who recently went viral for his absolute love of buttered corn. The social media obsession with Tariq began after his appearance in the web series “Recess Therapy”, where host, Julian Shapiro-Barnum, a comedian, interviews children in New York and posts their often hilarious clips in line.

In the viral TikTok video, Tariq’s sweet enthusiasm and enthusiasm for corn will explain why the whole world is so obsessed. It’s not just the fact that he starts with “Since I was told corn was real…” or that later he even adds considerately in one part about the fact that everyone world doesn’t need to like him (I mean, come on, how precious!), or, (arguably the best part) he describes as “a big hunk with pimples”, but that’s it what he says and above all her pretty little voice.

The interview has since gained over 3 million views on YouTube and over 800,000 on TikTok!

And now he’s even gotten the attention of the Governor of South Dakota. Governor Kristi L. Noem crowned Tariq as the state’s official “Corn-bassador” and even dubbed September 3 “Official Corn-bassador Tariq Day.”

For his first official stop representing the vegetable, Tariq was invited to visit the famous Corn Palace in South Dakota. Over Labor Day weekend, he toured the building, which houses murals depicting thousands of grains in a variety of shades.

“Tariq’s endorsement contains more than a kernel of truth and has reached ears around the world via social media.”

The original Cornfluencer interview even inspired the Gregory Brothers, who put the viral social media moments on a soundtrack on their account, to do a remix that has since been trending on TikTok.

The sound they created has been used in over 645,000 TikToks videos! Dave Jorgenson of The Washington Post even used it for an explainer video about how cornfields release “a-corny levels of moisture” into the air.

Google Trends reports that searches for “corn song” have been steadily increasing. Chipotle even featured Tariq and, of course, corn in an ad. Tariq is also working on the Cameo app, where you can hire celebrities for custom videos, and his pricing starts at $220.

Everyone from celebrities like Barbara Corcoran to sports teams like the Colorado Rockiesand even, federal agencies like NASA all paid tribute in different ways to Tariq, the “Corn Kid”.

If you’re still hungry for more corn content, there’s even an entire hashtag dedicated to it called #CornTok, where all the videos set to the official song “It’s Corn” exist.

As he said in the viral video, Tariq just wants everyone to have a “corn-tastic day.”
