Shri Amit Shah Lays Foundation Stone for Bioethanol Project at Kribhco, Hazira in Surat

The ethanol blending project in the country will open doors to economic prosperity for maize, sugarcane and paddy farmers (Minister of Interior and Cooperation, Amit Shah)

2.50 lakh liters of ethanol will be produced per day at KribhCo Hazira bioethanol plant


Gandhinagar, Wednesday: In his address, after laying the foundation stone of KribhCo (Krishakbharti Co-Op. Ltd.) bio-ethanol project which will be prepared at a cost of Rs. 350 crores and 2.50 lakh liters per day capacity located at Hazira, Surat, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah in the special presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that due to ethanol blending, Rs. 46,000 crores were saved on crude oil imports. It just means that due to the hard work of farmers producing crops like sugar cane, maize, paddy, it amounted to Rs. 46,000 crore attained them.

The Union Home Secretary also announced the establishment of a multi-state cooperative society for the promotion of the cooperative sector and the export of organic products.

During Sahkarita Sammelan (Cooperative Convention) held under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at Amrapali Open Air Theatre, KribhCo Township and during the inauguration of Bioethanol Plant, he further stated that due of the ethanol blending project, corn will be purchased from farmers on a large scale, opening up new avenues of income for them. Also, the door to economic prosperity for farmers growing corn, sugar cane, paddy will be opened.

The Prime Minister has set a target of 20% ethanol blending in petrol by 2025, and half of the target, i.e. the 10% ethanol blend target , was reached five months ago, the home minister said that blending ethanol in gasoline will benefit the country’s exchequer by 1 lakh crore by 2025.

Stating that the cooperative sector is the only way to bring the country’s poor, oppressed, destitute, exploited, downtrodden and backward communities into the mainstream, the Home Secretary said that the country’s cooperatives continuously strive to make industries sustainable and productive to boost the campaign of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Referring to the fact that India is gaining prominence in the world of biofuels, the Union Cooperation Minister said that in addition to cleanliness and self-reliance, waste i.e. i.e. garbage, are also used extensively. Today, recycling is promoted in the country. The name bioethanol has also been added to similar efforts. Thanks to this, many ordinary farming families will not have to depend on other countries for fuel, and new energy, a new impetus will be given to the country’s economy.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has said that due to excessive fuel consumption, huge foreign currencies have to be paid by the import of crude oil and the economy is also affected along with the continuous increase fuel consumption due to industrial development, the environment is also harmed.

The Chief Minister has clearly expressed the view that the ethanol blending project at KribhCo’s Hazira plant will be important in realizing the dream of fuel self-sufficiency. Welcoming the new dimension of a prestigious cooperative organization like KribhCo, the Chief Minister said that this plant will lead Gujarat in a new direction of developing eco-friendly projects.

The Chief Minister also added that the Prime Minister has established the Ministry of Cooperation for the first time in the country to give new energy and impetus to the cooperative structure of the country with the mantra of “Sahkar thi Samruddhi”. , which will also contribute significantly to making the country a five trillion dollar economy.

Congratulating the KribhCo family for their vision, the Chief Minister further stated that after obtaining ethanol from this project, approximately 36,000 metric tonnes of additional animal feed will be available annually, which will meet demand for livestock, fish and poultry feed and will also strengthen the rural economy. The Hazira plant will be beneficial for the sugar cane and sugar related cooperative units of South Gujarat.

Darshana Jardosh, Chairman of Indian National Cooperative Union Shri Dilip Sanghani, Chairman of KribhCo and Asia-Pacific International Cooperative Alliance Dr. Chandra Pal Singh, Chairman of Indian National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Ltd. (NAFED) and Director of KribhCo Dr. Bijender Singh and Deputy Chairman of KribhCo Shri V. Sudhakar Chowdary, including senior officials from central and state governments were present.
