Nilüfer Yanya sings ‘accept this is where you are’ on new single ‘anotherlife’

Nilüfer Yanya has shared a video for her new song, “anotherlife.”

The track is from Yanya’s highly anticipated upcoming album, PAINLESS. Full of texture, the track conveys a sense of hope and reassurance. Along with “anotherlife”, Yanya shared a video, set in Sri Lanka and directed by her sister Molly Daniel. Throughout the picturesque video, Yanya embarks on a tropical retreat.

“At the heart of the song, it’s just about being okay with things and accepting that’s where you’re at,” Yanya explains. “However, the line ‘I’ll do anything’ hints at a desperation to make it known.”

Released on March 4 via ATO, PAINLESS marks the sequel to his 2019 debut album, Miss Universe. Yanya recorded PAINLESS in a basement studio in Stoke Newington and Reverfish Music in Penzance. On the album, she worked with Miss Universe collaborator and producer Wilma Archer. The disc also features works by DEEK Recordings founder Buillon, Big Thief producer Andrew Sarlo and Jazzi Bobbi.

In addition to “another life”, PAINLESS features the previously released singles “Stabilize” and “Midnight Sun”.

“It’s a record about emotion,” says Yanya. “I think it’s more open about it in a way that Miss Universe wasn’t because there are so many capes and sleeves with the concept that I built around it.”
