There’s a lot going on in this week’s 12-page sports retreat.

Saltash United have been preparing for a first foray into Western League football for several years and, over the past ten days, have faced League 1 neighbors Plymouth Argyle and the Middlesbrough league team. Inside are reports and reactions from both games.

The club’s team of legends also faced Manchester United Legends.

Away from Kimberley Stadium, Millbrook has recruited former Callington Town goalkeeper and head coach Sam Borthwick to replace Chris Wearing who broke his leg.

There are reports of the last preseason friendlies including Callington Town v Tiverton Town, Launceston v Millbrook and Callington Town Reserves won against Bere Alston.

There is sad news from Lux Park as Liskeard Athletic was forced to withdraw their second team from the St Piran League due to a lack of players.

The Blues’ first team were in pre-season action on Saturday as they won 2-0 over neighbors Torpoint Athletic (inside report).

Outside of football, Liskeard-Looe RFC have lost influential striker Adam Powell to Launceston, as there is a lot going on in the world of bocce, sailing and golf.

Saturday has been the hottest day of summer so far with a full schedule in the Cornwall Cricket League minus eight exceptions due to COVID-19 concerns at some clubs including Callington who were unable to complete their match at Penzance in the ECB Cornwall Premier League.

Callington’s second and third teams continued their quest for the Division Two East and Three East titles while in the Division Two Menheniot secured a victory over neighbors Tideford. Inside is a report and reaction from skippers Marc Wright and David Lockett.

There is also a PM round up to Six East Division as there are only eight games left for most clubs.
