Exmouth Town travel to Wellington this Saturday aiming to register their third win against the Somerset side in the last four weeks following their 3-0 Les Phillips Cup win and a narrow 1-0 league victory at Southern Road two weeks ago.
While Town were without a game last Saturday, Wellington were beaten 2-0 at home by Buckland Athletic.
With Tavistock also without a league game (they beat Bridport 6-0 in the League Cup), Mousehole and Bridgwater United took the opportunity to close the points gap with 2-0 road wins at Brislington and Bitton respectively. Town’s clash with Mousehole next Wednesday, March 9, is an obvious ‘six’ and kick-off at Southern Road will be at 7.45pm.
Town are set to have top scorer Jordan Harris back for the Wellington game with the tantalizing prospect of linking up with Levi Landricombe, who has already scored four goals in his three outings for Town, including three against Wellington.
The Phillips Cup draw saw Town paired with Saltash United with the tie taking place at Southern Road on Wednesday March 23.
In the Joma Devon & Exeter LeagueIt was another entertaining afternoon at Vicarage Road last Saturday as East Budleigh and Alphington shared six goals in a thriller.
The Jays took the lead, when Jack Howarth recovered a clearance from goaltender Mark Bown before feeding Rian Hill, he crossed for Guy Laverock whose effort was returned by Jack Greenslade.
Ten minutes later, it was 2-0, Ryan Britton signaled Hugo Demetre. He got his first assist of the afternoon setting up Hill, who made no mistake finding the bottom corner.
Seven minutes into the second half, the Alphas were given a lifeline with a penalty and were level halfway through the half.
With the momentum in the visitors’ favour, an error at the back handed the Exeter side a third, but Budleigh pushed on and grabbed an added time point; Demetre grabbing his second assist and Greenslade his second on the final whistle.
