Bathing dates Castle to Castle Falmouth and Around the Mount Marazion

The previously postponed Castle to Castle swim is one of two RNLI fundraising events taking place in Cornwall in September.

The swim was originally scheduled to take place in June 2022 but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

This year, Castle to Castle will now take place on Saturday, September 17 at 9:00 a.m.

The one-mile open water sea swim sees participants embark on the Carrick Roads starting at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth and ending at St Mawes Castle on the Roseland Peninsula.

The event is strictly limited to 450 swimmers and is open to anyone over the age of 14.

Due to the postponement of the event, a small number of places are still available. You can register by clicking here and tickets cost £25. Additionally, all participants are asked to pledge to raise £50 for the RNLI through sponsorship.

It will be preceded by the open water swim Around the Mount in Marazion on Saturday September 10 at 4 p.m.

The Mount Swim is a one and a half mile open water sea swim around the iconic St Michaels Mount in Mounts Bay.

This challenge is a must for all intermediate or experienced open water swimmers and promises to be great fun and a great swim to take part in. All money raised will support the Penlee RNLI Lifeboat Station.

Registration is limited and around 100 participants are already registered, but there are still a few places available at a cost of £25 by clicking on here.

Again, participants are asked to pledge to raise £50 for the RNLI through sponsorship.

Dave Nicoll, RNLI Head of Fundraising and Partnerships, said: “These two incredible events offer open water swimmers the opportunity to take part in iconic swims in a safe environment whilst supporting the work of the RNLI.

“We currently have a small number of places available at both events for those who wish to attend.

“Events are largely run by volunteers and it would be impossible to organize these swims without their help. We are always looking for volunteers to help us with such events so if anyone has a few hours to spare and would like to offer their help and support, please contact us – it promises to be great fun with a fantastic atmosphere, so come and get involved.”
