Asus Preps Low-profile $75 Micro-ATX case with lots of mesh

According to InsightAsus has a new micro-ATX case, the AP201, with plenty of cooling options to rival the best PC cases on the market.

The AP201 measures 460 x 205 x 350 mm, giving a volume of 33 liters. It’s not the smallest micro-ATX case we’ve seen, but it’s one of the roomiest. Asus’ chassis includes steel, plastic, and fiberglass-reinforced plastic. The case weighs 5.8kg and comes in white and black colorways, which should accommodate plenty of design ideas.

Although the AP201 is aimed at micro-ATX system builders, the case can also accommodate mini-ITX motherboards, but that will mean a lot of spare space. Additionally, Asus has left around 32mm of space for easier cable management.

The Asus AP201 supports the best graphics cards, CPU coolers and power supplies. The case can accommodate graphics cards up to 338 in length and CPU air coolers up to 170mm in height. Additionally, there are four PCI expansion slots on the case, so a dual SLI or CrossFire setup isn’t out of the question. As for power supplies, the AP201 can accommodate units of all capacities and form factors as long as they are between 140mm and 180mm in length.

The case features mesh panels, front and top with dust filters to ensure maximum airflow. There are nine fan mounts with spacing for two 140mm or three 120mm cooling fans at the top of the case. It also allows for two 120mm or 140mm cooling fans in the front, bottom or rear of the case. However, Asus only includes a single 120mm cooling fan located at the rear. Generous cooling options also mean the case supports liquid cooling with radiators ranging from 120mm to 360mm.

The AP201 provides three drive bays that accept 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives and a specific 2.5-inch drive bay for SSDs. The front I/O panel consists of two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a USB Type-C port, a headphone jack, and a microphone jack.

Asus is reportedly launching the AP201 in the middle of next month for 499 yuan, or around $75. We don’t know yet if the AP201 is exclusive to the Chinese market or if the case will make it to our side of the world.
