Non-profit talent agency Creative Pinellas has announced its latest chance for budding local artists to jump-start their careers.

The organization’s 2023 Emerging Artist Fellowship is now open for applications. The program is designed to uplift and support artists at the start of their professional careers with a $2,000 financial grant, mentorship, and space in a group exhibit.

Grant applications are open until September 6.

Nominees will be selected by a panel of artists and curators based on their work, their vision for the future, and their commitment to sharing their art for the benefit of Pinellas County. Grants will be awarded for original works in a variety of creative disciplines: visual arts, interdisciplinary arts, media arts, musical composition, theater and musical theatre, choreography and literature.

“Through these grants to emerging artists, we have been able and continue to be committed to providing artists and communities with spaces, resources and recognition that may not have had such access in the past. “said Creative Pinellas CEO Barbara St. Clair. .

The Emerging Artists Fellowship is now in its sixth year and will select up to 10 artists for the program.

Recipients will be announced on or around October 8. Creative Pinellas will work with artists to pair them with a mentor and prepare them for an exhibition at Creative Pinellas Gallery tentatively scheduled for Spring 2023.

Program guidelines, eligibility details and online application can be found creativepinellas.org.
